Safety & Wellbeing

Your Safety Comes First

Jaeger is built to scare you and give you a thrill, not to upset or do harm. Every event opens with a full player brief, and every attendee gets a trigger list ahead of time so you can flag what to avoid.

If something isn't working for you -- in a scene, in the moment, at any point -- we provide tools to help you fix that for yourself.

Mental Health First Aiders

Every event has at least one Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) on site. They're your point of contact if you're struggling; whether it's something that happened in the game, something personal, or anything in between.

The “Okay" System

When roleplay becomes intense, emotionally heightened in any direction, players and crew can use the Okay hand signal.

This hand symbol is made by taking your thumb and forefinger forming an O, held against the chest, to check in on how everyone's doing.

By using this gesture, you are asking a player/crew/staff whether they are okay out of character. Their response will help you determine the best course of action.

Some folks are exceptional role players so you really can't always tell, so it's always good to check!

Breaking immersion to use this signal is always fine. Your out of character welfare matters more than the game.

Thumbs Up

Everything is good, please continue!

Wavering Hand

I'm alright, but let's bring it down a notch.

Thumbs Down

I need this to stop. Walk away, take a few minutes, return when ready.

No response = treat as thumbs down.
End the roleplay immediately.

Man Down

At an event, accidents can happen. If someone is injured and needs first aid, anyone on site can call “Man Down" loudly and clearly.

A referee will radio for a first aider, if one isn't immediately available.

If you hear it:

    1. Drop to one knee immediately - this clears sightlines for a first aider.
    2. Turn away from the incident to give the person privacy.
    3. Stay calm, stay nearby. The game is paused - don't wander off, you may be needed.
    4. Wait for a referee to indicate next steps.

Out of Character Conduct

Players, Crew, and Game Team will be sharing a physical space for an entire weekend, and how we treat each other outside the game matters just as much as how we play within it.

Rude, intimidating, or aggressive behaviour directed at any member of Jaeger (Player, Game Team, crew, or event staff) will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and may result in immediate removal from the event.

For the full framework, see our Community Code of Conduct.

Themes of Horror

Jaeger is an 18+ gothic horror game.

Dark themes are integral to the experience. Specific triggers are always flagged in pre-event documentation ahead of time, so you can make informed decisions about what you engage with.

No one will ever judge anyone for walking away from something they don't like.

Jaeger is not recommended if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, or a medical concern that may be affected by stress or sensory stimulation.
Unsure whether this applies to you? Contact us before an event.

Inclusivity

We want every player to feel genuinely welcomed, safe, and able to express themselves without fear of judgement.

Real-world racism, sexism, and transphobia are not themes explored in Jaeger, and never will be.

Jaeger is, and will always remain, a safe space for players exploring or expressing their gender identity.

Indoor events with bunk rooms offer mixed, masculine-presenting, and feminine-presenting options.

Free sanitary products are provided in all toilet facilities, and policing of these spaces will not be tolerated.

We consult widely on how we build this world and tell its stories, and welcome constructive feedback at any point on how we can improve.
