How Events Run
The Game Team
Jaeger is run by a Game Team of writers, designers, and organisers who build the world, write the plots, and manage the event.
You'll recognise them at events by:
*Not everyone marshalling is necessarily Game Team, but they can direct you to the right place.
The Game Team are unpaid volunteers who choose to spend their free time and holidays running Jaeger - not because they have to, but because they genuinely love the world they're building and the community growing around it.
They are not your opponents, even if it might feel that way in game at times. Their job is to create the conditions for great stories, respond to what players do, and make sure the event runs safely and smoothly for everyone.
If you have a question, a concern, or if something's gone wrong - they're your first point of contact.
Embedded Non-Player Characters (NPCs)
Sometimes, members of the team will be in the game playing embedded NPCs. Their role is to facilitate the game in character, and they'll usually be dressed like other players. Sometimes they may be wearing a radio with an ear piece, but not always.
These NPCs are not referees, but they can provide you in-character guidance and locate a referee if you can't find one.
They can also signpost to other areas such as first aiders, mental health first aiders, and can radio in requests from GOD for further info if required, such as rules clarifications.
Monster Crew
Alongside the core Game Team, Jaeger has a phenomenal crew of volunteers who bring the world to life by playing the monsters you fight and the event NPCs you meet.
An event NPC might be a terrified villager, a corrupt official, a wandering merchant, or something considerably less human. And yes - the monsters you'll be fighting are them too, doing an incredible job of making the world feel dangerous and alive.
Crew rotate through roles across the weekend, often playing multiple characters and many monsters - the game simply would not run without them.
Treat event NPCs as you would any other character in the world. The person inside the costume is a volunteer giving their time to make your experience richer - they deserve the same respect out of character as anyone else on site.
We don't recommend prospective players crew their first few events as an interim option until they can play.
The crew room is an immersive environment in its own right, and spending time there before playing will spoil a great deal of what makes the player experience special.
How An Event Runs
Jaeger events typically run across a full weekend, Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
Specific timings will be communicated in your event pack ahead of the weekend.

Saturday
The main event day.
Plots are active, NPCs are in the field, and the world is fully live from morning through late night.
This is where the bulk of the story unfolds.
Usual game time: 10am-1am
Sunday
A shorter day, typically wrapping up loose threads and bringing the event to a close by early afternoon.
Everyone chips in to ensure everybody is packed down and off site by mid-afternoon.
