Jaeger Nocturne Events

Since Jaeger was created, we always wanted to get a bit more experimental with event ideas – and those ideas don’t always fit in with what we would consider a “mainline” event, these being your numbered events 1, 2, 3, etc.

Originally, these events were named .5 events. Going forward, we’re calling them Nocturne events.

Nocturne events could be something as simple as a banquet event with lots of puzzles and intrigue. Our first Nocturne event, which was called 1.5 prior to the name switch, will be one of those banquets in 2025.

However, depending on where the story takes us and player action, the next Nocturne could be something more like a 24 hour time in high lethality/high reward style of event.

Or another in future it could be a full on masquerade ball with pure social mechanics. We may even ask you to shed your character for a night and take on the role of someone else entirely in a night of political intrigue in a parlour style game, giving you a glimpse of Aynca from a completely new perspective. All this with the goal to help enrich the game and apply some continental consequences, which your Jaeger may have to deal with the fallout.

Some events may be less accessible just by their high comba nature, but we’ll always ensure to make up for it at the one that follows.

Nocturne events will usually be shorter in nature, for an evening or over one day, and may not always appeal to everyone in the player base, which is why we initially dubbed them as .5 events. We will always reward these events with a Credit in experience, especially as some of these events will be more experimental than others.

One key difference is that, unlike mainline events, there won’t be a hold on tickets for new players for Nocturne events, and will be available for anyone from the start.

Our goal is that our mainline events will be our usual format of traditional scout camp LARP with a “villain of the week”, with a core narrative with ongoing plot threads, with previous players being prioritised, and to be made as accessible as possible. This way, the majority of the player base don’t miss out where the bulk of the story and the action if they choose not to attend a .5 event.

Bringing it back to 1.5, the goal for this event was to meet demand for more from players, still deliver some great story-telling and intrigue, whilst setting the backdrop for Event 2. It will certainly be the simplest in style of .5 events we have in mind, but there’s not always a need to reinvent the wheel!

Of course, things are always up for tweaking and updates depending on feedback and ideas we get back from you both OC and IC.
